ZiMM.coffee is a small, specialised, family-run business with one clear mission: to change the narrative about African coffee — and to make sure the people who grow it are the ones who benefit most from its brilliance.

We are fewer than ten people. No corporate hierarchy, no boardroom politics — just a tight-knit team with deep roots in Africa and a home in Switzerland, united by the belief that African coffee deserves to be celebrated on the world stage, not quietly exported and rebranded by others.

We work with a carefully chosen network of producers, roasters, and logistics partners — each selected because they share our values, not just because they're convenient. Every person in our production chain matters, and we treat them accordingly.

We also use Artificial Intelligence to help run the business more efficiently. But let's be clear: AI supports ZiMM, it does not define it. It allows our small team to deliver a great customer experience without inflating our costs — so our people can focus on what genuinely matters: finding and sharing exceptional African coffees.

On AI at ZiMM: We use AI tools to scale our customer experience thoughtfully. It handles the repetitive so our people can focus on the remarkable — sourcing great coffee, building relationships with farmers, and telling Africa's story properly.

We source across the African continent — from Zimbabwe's Eastern Highlands to Ethiopia, Rwanda, and beyond. Each origin brings its own character, and we celebrate that diversity rather than flatten it. Every coffee we carry is traceable, honest, and chosen because it genuinely stands out.

Hand-picked, washed, and sun-dried

Freshly picked coffee cherries are carefully washed and then sun-dried — a traditional process that preserves the bean's natural complexity and depth of flavour before the long journey west.

Arrival
Shipped to our roastery in Europe

The dried green beans travel to our roastery in Europe, where they're stored carefully until it's time to roast. We never pre-roast in bulk — freshness is non-negotiable. Our ambition is to eventually roast at origin, supporting African roasters and keeping more value on the continent. We're not there yet, but it's where we're headed.

Every subscription triggers a fresh roast. We offer Filter (Light), Omni (Medium), and Espresso (Dark) roast profiles on whole bean — roasted using low-emission technology in keeping with our commitment to sustainability.

That means recyclable packaging, minimal plastic, low-emission roasting, and a constant search for ways to do better. Sustainability isn't a marketing badge for us — it's a commitment we hold ourselves accountable to every time we roast an order.

Where We're Headed

The goal is roasting
at the source.


Right now, we roast in Europe. We're honest about that. But our long-term ambition — the one that keeps us going — is to support African roasters at origin, to help build African coffee brands that can compete on the world stage, and to keep as much value as possible on the continent that produces the coffee.

We're not there financially yet. But every subscription moves us closer. The revenue ZiMM generates is the foundation we're building toward that future — one where the roastery, the brand, and the story all start and end in Africa.
